Once again these numbers that reduce to 9 yield some remarkable conceptual associations. The following gematria was inspired by the article excerpt below (see bottom of page), the subject of which is Jesus Christ and Freemasonry. It's interesting to note how Mary Magdalene fits into the scenario also.

Note the above association with "gematria". This implies an association with "word". Notice also the word, STONE, is an anagram of the word, TONES. "Tones" can be associated with "words". In this context the following is interesting:

Regarding the idea of "nine" as a "mirror", the following is interesting:

What message might be hidden in these phrases? We know that 9 marks the end of the numerical series before the series begins all over again with 10 which is actually "1" (1+0=1). Then "11" is "2", and so on. This is why, in traditional numerology, the number 9 is considered to be "the number of completion". This is seen as a circular function: 1 to 9 to 1 to 9 to 1 to 9, and round and round it goes. However, as I have argued elsewhere, it seems more appropriate to consider 9 as "the number of transition" with the series not being a circular function but, rather, a spiral function. In other words, the "1" following the "9" is not the same "1" that began the series. Rather it is a new "1", unique to the endlessly spiraling series in both directions, inward and outward. As above, so below. As within, so without.

Whatever these mysterious "tones" might be, there is an indication that they are to be reversed at the point of transition (REVERSE THE TONES AT NINE = 261).

Also consider the idea that "reversal" can be associated with the idea of "rebuilding" or "resurrection", thus adding yet another dimension of associated meaning in these phrases. This is reflected in the following:

In CryptoNumerology (or English Gematria) not all the number values reduce to 9. Some "non-nine" are of great significance simply because of the associative value in "case related" words and phrases. Such is the case with the following:

The scriptures are full of allegorical references to masonry and building with stone. For example in Mark 12,10, Jesus says, "The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner". In John 1,42 Jesus makes Simon Peter a stone, a foundation stone of a spiritual Church. The Freemasons likewise labour on the construction of a spiritual version of Solomon's temple, and not a physical one. In Mark 6,4 Jesus is himself described as O Tektwn: this has always been mistranslated as 'carpenter' in the English Bible, but its truer meaning is Builder (cf. architect).

The deeper mysteries of Jesus' building analogies relate to the rite of spiritual resurrection. In John 2,19-21 Jesus portrays himself as a temple builder/rebuilder:

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

This was not woodwork but stonework that he was referring to, and rather more important, as stone was the material of sacred buildings. In this passage Jesus was alluding to his resurrection - an event he clearly had prior knowledge, and understanding, of. He knew that he would triumph over the initiatory death he was to undergo. He also viewed the process in terms of spiritual rebuilding.

Confirmation of this comes from St John's description of the resurrection. This is couched in mysterious and symbolic language, and especially so in the exchange that takes place between the risen Christ and Mary Magdalene beside the empty tomb (John 20,16):

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

The significance of this exchange is totally lost in modern exoteric Christianity and the very curious word Rabbouni is either conveniently ignored, or euphemistically glossed as a bastard Aramaic form of 'Rabbei' - 'Master'. Neither of these tactics shed any light on the word. However, its true significance has long been known to the Freemasons, and this is why 'Rabboni' is a critical password in the Royal Arch degree - a degree whose central motif is the rebuilding of Solomon's temple. In explaining the etymology of Rabboni, Albert Pike demonstrated that it is not Aramaic at all, but simply derives from the Hebrew, 'RB BNI': these two words mean the Master of the Builders, or the Master Builder (1). Thus Mary's comment clearly refers back to the passage cited above predicting the rebuilding the temple in three days. What she is saying is, "Behold, the Master Builder".

The fact that St John took the trouble to code his gospel by means of gematria actually gives us another chance to confirm the Masonic significance of Mary Magdalene's choice of words. The way she actually greeted him, whilst she took him to be the 'gardener', was with the words, Kurie ei su ebastasaV auton eipe moi pou auton eqhkaV kagw auton arw - 'Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away'. The total gematria value of these Greek words is 7261 - and this is the exact value of the title, O Arcitektwn - The Master Builder, when counted in plenitude (2).

Jesus Christ is thus the supreme Architect of the spiritual temple. It is, I suppose, what one would expect from the son of The Great Architect of the Universe. >>

CryptoNumerology: How and Why It Work







Alchemy is known as "The Great Work".

The ultimate goal of alchemy, as I understand it, is to produce life from death, the highest form of essence from the lowest. This idea, in a graphic sense, reminded me of a pyramid. It occurred to me that The Great Work, as far as I know, has not been accomplished and the Great Pyramid is missing the Capstone. Could there be a connection?

The absence of the Capstone may represent the unfinished Great Work. When The Great Work is accomplished perhaps the Capstone will appear. In other words, the accomplishment of the Great Work will signify that the time has arrived for the Capstone to be constructed atop the now flat summit of the Great Pyramid. Legend has it that the Capstone once existed and that it was made of gold. What may have become of it, if it did exist, is not known. It is true, however, that the Egyptian government had built a capstone sheathed in a gold leaf material in the 1990s and planned to lower it into place atop the Great Pyramid as part of a New Millenium celebration for the year 2000. This did not happen. Different reasons were given as explanations of why it didn't happen. One explanation is that it might cause some damage to the upper structure of the pyramid itself. Regardless of the explanations, the fact is that the Great Pyramid still does not have a capstone. What is more interesting, relative to our alchemy theme being discussed here, is that the capstone is to be made of gold. This lends even more credence to our alchemy scenario because one of the goals of alchemy was to be able to change lead into gold. The reason for doing this was not for the monetary value of the gold. Such an accomplishment, that of turning the base metal of lead into gold, was a sign of successfully understanding the Great Secret of alchemy. Once the Great Secret was known, one could move on to the next step, the true ultimate goal of alchemy: creating life out of death or, in other words, Resurrection and eternal life or, in another sense, "ascension" to a higher realm of consciousness; "Christ Consciousness" as it is sometimes referred to. In this study we will look at some English gematria related to this idea.

What can be learned from applying English gematria to the subject of alchemy or to anything else for that matter? Isn't it just "coincidence" that these phrases match up by their corresponding alphanumeric values? It's a fair question and one I've asked myself many times over the years. At this point I'm inclined to think it's not all just a matter of random chance, or what is thought of as meaningless coincidence. "Meaningless" is the key word in the previous sentence. The word "coincidence" may be accurate but in a special way. I'm inclined to think we are dealing with "meaningful" coincidence or what the famous Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung, called "synchronicity". This paper is not the place to launch into a long explanation of what synchronicity is and how it functions. Suffice to say here I think this is what we are dealing with. The meaningfulness of the phrases may not even be entirely subjective. It may actually have an objective component. There may be a deeper level of correspondence going on here in which the meaningfulness is derived from some archetypal realm, some "cosmic blueprint" or "matrix of meaning" that exists outside of our individual consciousness. Such was the understanding behind the ancient art of gematria as practiced by the Hebrew and Greek mystics. That the English alphabet could be applied in a similar manner has long been a matter of controversey with many "gematria fundamentalists" saying it probably can't work. My exploration of this phenomenon, however, has provided enough evidence to me to suggest otherwise. This paper will go a ways toward demonstrating why I think there is more to it than mere meaningless coincidence.

As to the question of what we can learn from it my response is that it does not seem to magically supply overt answers to whatever topic is being worked on. Rather, it seems to provide a sort of labyrinth to be wandered through and contemplated. Along the way one may discover what appear to be clues as to the direction one should turn in order to find the right path leading to more clues and eventually, one would hope, to some enlightened revelations related to whatever subject matter is being explored. In short, the use of gematria might be thought of as a meditational guide.

Those who are familiar with my work will recall that I tend to focus on gematria numbers that reduce to the single digit value of 9 (e.g., 144 as 1+4+4=9, or 666 as 6+6+6=18, 1+8=9). The reason for giving special attention to the "nine thing", as I sometimes call it, has to do with sacred geometry and a particular canon of sacred numbers found throughout the texts, myths, and legends of ancient times.

While not all of the numbers in this study reduce to the value of 9, the majority of them do (27, 63, 81, 90, 108, 117, 126, 135, 144, 153, 171, 189, 198, 207, 225, 243, 252, 261, 279, 288, 297, 306, 333, 360, 369, 387, 396, 405, 414, 423, 432, 441, 477, 495, 504, 522, 531, 558, 576, 630, 747, 1251, 2502). The other numbers, however, should not be considered of lesser importance in this study. The key issue here is to note how the numbers (the alphanumeric values of the phrases) associate themselves with phrases which share close relationships with one another.

For those not familiar with how I present the phrases with matching values, here is an example:

THE GREAT WORK = 151 = JESUS CHRIST = ENERGY OF LIGHT

This simply means that, by applying the serial gematria system of A=1 through Z=26, the value of the first phrase is 151 and the phrases that follow the "=" symbol have the same value. This will be the format used throughout this paper.

THE GEMATRIA WORK:

THE CAPSTONE = 126

Estimates vary regarding the size of the base of the missing capstone or, perhaps more accurately, the dimensions of the summit of the Great Pyramid where the Capstone would sit. One estimate is 44 feet per side. This would make sense in terms of our English gematria because of the equation above which reveals the number 144. Here is why the 44 feet would correspond:

FORTY FOUR = 144 = THE GOLD STONE

There is, however, another option. The measurement could be 45 feet.

FORTY FIVE = 126

ONE TWO SIX = 144

The following gematric equations support the idea of relating alchemy to the Great Pyramid.

This fits nicely with the historical record which tells us that the Great Pyramid was once completely covered with 144,000 sheets of highly polished limestone, thus causing the entire monument to gleam like a blazing light in the sun.

The word, pyramid, could be broken into pyra and mid, where pyra may be a form of the word pyre which is basically a funeral fire and mid may imply "middle", thus pyramid could mean "fire in the middle".

THE CENTRAL FIRE = 144 = FIRE OF CREATION

The idea of a "fire of creation" works well in contrast to the idea of funeral fire in that now the pyramid can be seen to suggest the alchemical notion of "Life out of Death".

ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR IS THE LIGHT = 369 = CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS IS THE LIGHT = DEOXYRIBOSE NUCLEIC ACID CODE IS THE LIGHT

The above phrase (ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR IS THE LIGHT) works well as the number 144 is known esoterically as "the light number".

The notion of "tone" is a common theme that I've been exploring. Again this is not the place to expand on that particular subject. However, just so the reader may have at least a small insight as to how it fits into the bigger picture in terms of the gematria we can observe the following:

TONE = 54 = BREATH = VOICE = NOTE (Notice 54 is a "9" number)

TONES = 73 = SOUND = NUMBER (Notice the idea of "number" can relate to the frequency of sound)

If the Great Work (alchemy) is truly a quest for the secret of resurrection or the "ascension" of the "light body", it would make sense that it would somehow relate to the historical icon of resurrection, Jesus Christ. And so it does:

THE GREAT WORK = 151 = JESUS CHRIST = ENERGY OF LIGHT = ENERGY+MATTER

ONE FIVE ONE = 110 = THE CHRIST = THE SANG REAL

This number 151, and it's corresponding phrases, is extremely interesting especially in the context of this study. The story of alchemy has a strong connection to a village called Rennes le Chateau located in the South of France. This area of France is the focus of the legend in which it is said Mary Magdalene arrived here following the crucifiction of Jesus. The legend has it that she and Jesus had been lovers and that she birthed the child of their union here in this general location. The area is steeped in mystery concerining this event and the involvement of the Knights Templar in preserving "a great secret" or perhaps "a great treasure", or perhaps both if the secret and the treasure were one thing: the Holy Grail. But then the question arises, just what was the Holy Grail? Because of a particular liguistic anomaly it turns out the Holy Grail may have been the Magdalene herself. In French the words Holy Grail are Saint Graal. This spelling could have been the result of a mispronunciation of Sang Réal which means Blood Royal. Thus the Holy Grail was the womb of Mary Magdalene carrying the Royal Blood of Jesus. Our gematria reveals an astonishing correspondence related to these ideas:

We might note also that combining the numbers 151 and 110 gives us a sum of 261 (2+6+1=9).

TWO SIX ONE = 144 = NINE IS THE KEY

Moreover, if we calculate the difference between 151 and 110 we get 41 which is the gematria value of the words KING, LOCK, and KEY, three words potent with symbolism.

It is interesting to note that the Knights Templar were probably keepers of some of the secrets of alchemy and that the original core group of these knights consisted of 9 members only. Note that the number 297 reduces to the single digit value of 9 (2+9+7=18, 1+8=9)

When I convert each of the numerals 1 through 9 into the words ONE through NINE, I call those words "alphanumbers". They can be divided up into three sets: (1) ONE TWO SIX, (2) THREE SEVEN EIGHT, and (3) FOUR FIVE NINE . Having found that the alphanumbers, FOUR, FIVE, NINE, as well as ONE, TWO, SIX, seem to be of some primary significance , I wondered how they might fit into the Alchemy theme. First I tried using a phrase incorporating the full sets:

THE NUMBERS OF THE GREAT WORK ARE FOUR FIVE NINE = 465, not a recognizable sacred number.

But I found, oddly enough, that if I constructed the phrases using only two alphanumbers at a time, resulting in three pairs, then the sum of the phrases came out to a number that reduced to 9. If a number reduces to 9 it likely fits into the sacred number matrix at some level. These are the results:

According to paranormal/occult researcher, Lionel Fanthorp, alchemists believed the 4 elements were crucial to the secret of alchemy and that part of the goal of alchemy was to learn the secret of creating the "fifth element". Fanthorp said they believed "Christ embodied the fifth element" and that Christ represented "the perfect balance" of the four elements. To me, this seems to imply that the fifth element may actually be the product of the four elements combined. I took this information and subjected it to gematria and found amazing correlations with these ideas:

The four elements are usually called EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER. Something interesting showed up with these:

EARTH + AIR + FIRE + WATER + CHRIST = 259, again not a meaningful number in this context.

But if we substitute EARTH with its ancient "sacred" name, GAIA, then we have something:

While there are four chemical elements (Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Carbon) that make up our DNA, Braden's "God Code" hypothesis maintains that the Hebrew letters, YHVH, equate to only three of them: Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen. Interestingly, these three produce a significant alphanumeric sum whereas the inclusion of Carbon renders the sum number meaningless. Perhaps this indicates that these three chemical elements are the key elements involved in the alchemical transmutation process.

The above equation indicates three tones, yet there are six alphanumbers involved (ONE TWO SIX FOUR FIVE NINE). Three tones would not seem to make sense if each alphanumber is considered as one tone. But the phrases do not always necessarily mean exactly what they say. They seem more like clues giving us direction but inviting us to look deeper into the process of trying to put together the big picture. It's like a seek-and-ye-shall-find type of persuit. The clues are within clues, in many layers. In our example here we looked deeper and realized the six alphanumbers (ONE TWO SIX FOUR FIVE NINE) need not be divided into the two natural sets in this case. They could be divided into three sets. For example: ONE-TWO, SIX-FOUR, FIVE-NINE. Now we could see these three sets as THE THREE ALCHEMICAL TRANSMUTATION TONES WITHIN THE BODY. How the alphanumbers relate to "tones" is still a mystery. Perhaps "tones" is a metaphor for something else? Perhaps the "tones" might be "words". If so, the three words might relate to the three chemical elements, OXYGEN, HYDROGEN, NITROGEN.

In his book, The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye, Jay Weidner discusses the sudden appearance of huge gothic cathedrals in Western Europe beginning about the year 1000.
