No where does Lahaye/Jenkins say that their story is true. It is one possible way that Tribulation may look. The series did a lot for me in understanding prophecy. There was one character who was given the mark of the beast after he was drugged. He was ready to die for his faith, but was drugged and given the mark against his will. Did you read the book?

Amen. Ialso believe that it is the doctrines of men/ church doctrines.
The Bible- KJV talks about heaping to ourselves teachers having itching ears. There are so many churches with doctrines that are leading people away from Jesus. I believe many churches today are like business's, they have so much of the world in them. To draw people to their church. Recently a new church was built near my neighborhood. It has a coffee shop,library, gym all sorts of things to draw people in to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. I would like to remind people that in the Bible, it was the scribes,pharisees,the religous people that caused Jesus so much harm. I Timothy speaks strongly about the harm that " religious " churches draw people away from Jesus into lusts of the flesh.

People are speculating everything through reading the bible in its literal sense, but what many aren't aware is that, the things that were veiled are being revealed to the Elect through the Holy Spirit. The reason why the elect cannot be deceived is because they have the Spirit of God living in them, and God is revealing things to them, step by step. This group of people are no longer in spiritual darkness, and they are aware of what is happening and what is coming. This is and can only be possible through the Holy Spirit. Be careful with people who are having visions very frequently and are claiming that God sent them. God has not sent anyone. He will give clear instructions to the Elect after the spiritual resurrection and transformation that is coming very soon. The Bible tells us that, God will reveal His Glory to the world, and all flesh will see it, together. The Glory of God is His chosen ones. He refers to them as 'Mount Zion', which is His Glory. That's why in Daniel, "when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the Prophet Daniel, (let the reader understand), and let those in Judea run to the mountains. The word of God is alive and will never 'die'. One phrase or sentence describes the past, the present and the future. The Elect, since they have gone through their tribulation and refinement through the 'fire', they ran to God when they saw this abomination begin to happen to them. When they are completely sealed, the time they are transformed, tribulation begins for the rest of the world.("I show you a mystery, we shall not all die but we shall be changed"). The world will run to the Elect (mount Zion) when they see the abomination spoken of in Daniel. The Elect are 'the royal priesthood', and they will judge the nations. The seal of God in them will be God's Law/covenant. God says, "I will write my law in your hearts, and it will be to you a remembrance of the day I took you out of the land of Egypt". Egypt means the land of 'sin'. They are commanded by God to tie this law in their hands and on their forehead as a remembrance, and to teach their children for generations to come. With this Law in them makes them the vessels of the covenant. Their transformation will be eternal and will make them immortal. No man will be able to kill or touch them for what will be in them will be Holy. They will intercede between God and man. The Bible says, "don't you know the saints will judge the nations"? "I will make your enemies to come bow on your feet". Romans 1:18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

I believe the mark of the beast is spiritual and already happening. The Beast will cause all small and great to RECIEVE a mark on their forehead or right hand. They willingly receive it as a gift. The most prominent false doctrine rising up in the church is "Salvation is a gift and repentance of sins is WORK."
This false gospel is received by many in the church today which leads them to believe they are still saved even though they never stop sinning.
This is exactly what Daniel spoke about when he said the lawless one will make a covenant with them for a week and put an end to sacrifices and oblations.
Satan has overcome the professed church by duping them into believing they don't have to obey Christ and stop their sins.
The beast APPEARS as a Lamb but speaks as a dragon.
The false Christ (antichrist) speaks love and forgiveness no matter what you do, which is blasphemy against the real Jesus Christ.
Paul tells us the Temple is the church, made of living stones.
So who is sitting in the Temple now, if not a false image of Christ?
You would think, if the mark is spiritual then why can't they repent?
Well the bible tells us why...." Therefore God will send them a strong delusion that they will believe a lie, because they did not love righteousness but loved unrighteousness". At this point they will be sealed.
What about no one being able to buy or sell? That is spiritual too. Jesus bought us, there are tons of references in the bible like in Revelation where Jesus says. buy from Me gold refined by fire..or the 5 foolish virgins were told to buy their own oil....which represents the Holy Spirit.
Satan was thrown out of heaven for his trafficking and buying.
We will not be able to preach the correct Gospel of repentance of sins in the Beast system created in the present false church.
And Jesus says the great tribulation is sent to try ALL that are upon the earth not just Christians. This leads me to believe the great trib will be tge catastrophies sent as He pours out Judgment. Then we who nevwr took the mark will be protected when He pours out His wrath at His return...because we will have His seal and not the beast's seal....we are not appointed for wrath.
Oh and, the words used in Thessalonians 2:3 are often misinterpreted. Paul uses the greek word "tis" for a certain individual and he uses the word anthropos for the lawless one. The word anthropos means mankind, male and female. So the mystery of lawlessness is a collective not a particular man.
John uses the same word anthropos in Revelation when describing the number of a man..six hundred and sixty six.
