• According to the Book of the Balance of Jābir Ibn Hayyān, alchimist and Sufi, the form (sura) of any thing in the world is 17; the number 17 represents the base of the theory of the Balance and has to be considered as the rule of the balance of each thing.

• Ominous number for Italians, as the number 13 in Occident. Thus, in Italy, there is no bedroom 17, no 17th floor, etc., this because of the number 17 that in Roman number is written XVII, considered as the anagram and the numerical value of the Latin expression VIXI that means "I lived" therefore by extension "I am dead".

• There is a famous passage in Theaetetus of Plato in which it is written that Theodorus (the professor of Plato) proved the irrationality of sqrt(3), sqrt(5), ..., taking all the cases until the square root of 17, where he stopped. • The number 17 is used 13 times in the Bible. But if we count also all the numbers having "17" or "seventeen" in their manner to be written, but which are not however not equal to 17, the four following references would be retained: Jg 8,14 with sixty-seventeen; 1 Ch 7,11 with 17200; Ezr 2,39 and Neh 7,42 with 1017. Then, the number 17 would be used 17 times in the Bible.

• The number 130 is used 17 times in the Bible.

• In 17 places in the NT God is called the God Unique. The verb to pay is used 17 times in the NT, and the word manna and the verb to kneel, 17 times in the Bible.

• In the Revelation of John, 7 is used 53 times and designates 17 different elements: 7 Churches of Asia, 7 spirits, 7 candelabras, 7 seals, etc.

• In the Bible, 17 numbers are multiple of 17.

• The fourteen epistles of saint Paul in the Bible use on the whole 17 different numbers written in their cardinal form and the sum of their occurrences gives 81.

I see the number 17 everywhere! it is my best friend's birth date and I see it in phone numbers, books, road signs and plenty of other places. I started counting the number of times I would see it in a day and on 17/7/07 I saw it 17 times it was then when I became anxious to know it's meaning. Over the years I have done a bit of research and found a lot of crazy things about religion and angel numbers. I do not belive in any sort of god so i don't know what to think of it. PLEASE HELP ME!

well i can tell u from first hand exp that even when u dont believe he is still with u! at my darkest hour he showed up! and 17 has been apart of me since i was about 13 i see it every where and any thing that has 2 do with me pops up #17 i didnt chose it it choes me! and everyone else on here 2! and i dont attend church every sunday even though i should. but i know god is with me and u ! in every step we make. not being a holly roller but there is a reason u have it 17. good luck n god bless. shyster 17

Around a year and a half ago, I moved into this great house full of people i didn't know, one of my new housemate's lucky number is 17, he told me all about how it shows up everywhere in life for him. Low and behold, as soon as he told me about this, i started seeing the number 17 everywhere too. Now our whole house (there's 7 of us in total) always shout "SEVENTEEN!!" every time it's mentioned anywhere on TV, on a road sign... anywhere - and you honestly wouldnt believe how often it appears. I see it multiple times a day, its not like i'm looking for it or anything, its just always... there.

I swear just about every day i'll think to myself "what time is it?" only to look at the clock and see it is 17:17. It's really bizarre... not to mention the home i was living at before i moved into this house was the number 17!

I only found this article because i just happened to read a news headline that said last month was the coldest August in 17 years, which as usual made me smile a little to myself, and I just decided to see if anyone else had mentioned something about 17 being so abundant in there lifes... and so here i am :)

All numbers are pertinent to everyone. If you look at your own birthdate, name and regular numerology numbers you will find that the numbers you resonate with will keep popping up everywhere. These are spiritual reminders for you, to get your attention, to remind you of your intent in being here.

My understanding of 17 is that it is God. If you add up the letters of God, 7+6+4=17. 17/8 is a reminder to merge with God and become 8, the sign of infinity.

That is one reason these forums now exist and many people are experiencing 17, another universal reminder, that we are all connected, and therefore God incarnate.

My name is Kyle, i live a normal non-religious life.
My full name contains 17 letters.
My birthday is 3/17/89 17th and 8+9 = 17
i was born at 5:12 pm (5+12=17)
In school i have always had either: Room 17, Desk 17, cubby 17, book 17, calculator 17, etc.
In sports, number 17 jersey.
I see it quite often its very strange, not really sure what to make of it but ive always thought it was MY number, or my lucky number.

Everyday i see the #17, i first started noticing the #17 when i was 13...i hit puberty on the 17th and its a celebration in my culture...so it was a good thing that happen to me...then on the 17th i went to movies with my family for the first time...then on the 17th...was my first kiss...then i just notice something different or something good always happen to me on the 17th...it kinda stopped now...after i started telling people about it...but i never go a day without seeing the #17 more than once...i have a lot more experiences with 17 but for now this all i can remember...but yes, when ever i see the # 17 it makes me feel good and happy sort of like a bond ......i thought it was only me.i am very happy to read the comment here.

For the past year I wanted to no what does the number 7,17,27 mean. My lil girl dad birthday is 2.7.1981 and he die on 1.17.2010 and he was 27years old when he die.I alway see the number 17 or 27 but dont no what it mean? The other day i was telling myself is today the 27th> i dont no why i want to no so bad but at the same time i didnt go see the next day when i got up the 1st thing i thought to myself is today the 27th. later that day i look at my phone and it ws may 27.2010 i dont why these numbers keep cuming up even when im not thinking about it. for the past year they just keep cuming up. today is May 30,2010 and it 5am and iam trying my best to find out what all this mean.

Seventeen stabbings or shots

I have had several dreams that later become true. When laying down to sleep, but still awake, I get thoughts of dying of 17 shots or 17 stabs. I don't look at the clock and see the 17, but the number pops into my mind very often. I was born November(11) 04, 1971. I see the 71 as an inverse of 17, but other than that I haven't counted the letters of my name or any events to see if they add up to 17. I cannot make a real connection of the number 17 to my life other than those recurring thoughts of being stabbed or shot 17 times. But the weird part is that I always dream stuff about me and people I know that happens later on. That's creepy and my husband and son are now aware of it. It started when I was about 10 yrs old. My son (14) sais I should try to gain some control over it and see if I can see stuff happening in the future. So far the dreams are at random or as a result of a question I ask God or an invitation I give God right before I go to sleep. After, I have symbolic dreams with saints and located in old churches in which the characters of my dreams tell me "I have a message for you" and they give me what I think is an answer. I don't tell anyone other than my husband and son about it cause I don't want people to think I'm crazy. But undeniably, something's going on. I have premonitory dreams. How do you explain that. Can I learn to control it?

I dreamed that I was helping a friend teach a group of children. My friend is the Principle of a public school. I saw children in the dream who had been instructed so well that they hung all of there cloths in perfect order on hooks on a wall. There were another group of children who had come in from playing outside. Their coats were wet. They dropped the wet cloths in a pile on the floor. I saw a beautiful blanket with prayers engraved on the blanket. I could not take my eyes off this blanket. It was the most beautiful blanket I have ever seen. The prayers were recorded on the blanket. I also saw a cassette tape with songs sung by the children. Next I saw children gather at a table and the principle removed one child from the group who is now home schooled and who has video bible lessons everyday. The Principle said you are a negative 17. I felt sad for the child. Then a person asked the Principle if she wanted to go to market and the principle hesitated to answer. I woke up.

Along time ago i made up an Alias, Bloodstone17, Now i see the number 17 alot, I've had a few strange Encounters and afew Plain weird things Happen to me and The Number 17 is Always there.

I Have No connection with the number Birth wise. Its just Kinda Strange i Guess, I don't Think its a Coincidence.
I was gonna Ask My spirit Guide about it But i haven't had much Luck Projecting lately =(

I was born on june 17th and I came in the US on Oct 17 th. I see 17 everywhere such as clock, car, walls, all over. Then I decide to find out about this number. Yes this site gives a hint. Also, I found out that Jesus was born on June 17th by an Australian stargazer Dave Reneke who used complex computer software to chart the exact positions of all celestial bodies and map the night sky as it would have appeared over the Holy Land more than 2,000 years ago.

I was born 11-17 @ 7h17 pm- I have tried to convince myself over the past years- that every time I looked at ANY clock- it was pure coincidence it read 11:17 - I mean I've even tried to tell myself its me being a concieted scorpion- I'm not going to say all the things that have happened with the # 17- but I will say that regardless- of good or bad memories I love it- maybe the clock thing is just chance- but I find such COMFORT in this Number 17 than in almost anything in my life- its like a bond only me and this number know about- its good to know I'm not crazy or the only person that realizes that some things are really more than what we think- I've always felt my numbers connected me to something greater- I feel it more towards the universe and the creator- not the bible- 1 and 7 are two numbers that's makes us unique:-)

I have had similar experiences as everyone else. My birthday is on 12-17. I see the time 12:17 on my phone, other peoples phone, my TV, my computer, etc. Today is the first day I tried to figure out what it means. I went to a numerology website but all I gathered was the the number 17 is an eventful number.
I have learned the most from reading these postings. I think all of us 17nrs need to embrace the number. Believe it is a good number to have in your life, if you have the option between a jersey # always pick 17, I believe god blessed me by letting my born on the 17 and gave me something extra by having a lucky number. Whenever possible it will bring goodness to your life.

The post says 9:20, but that could mean that it was 11:20 in her time zone and was posted 3 minutes after the fact of her looking at the clock, not the actual posting time. You have to remember that there are relevant aspects to this. Whether it's 11:17 or 9:17. My birthday is 12/17/1961. I see 12:17 (a.m. or p.m.) and xx:17 on a clock all the time just casually looking to see what time it is. Not all the time but very frequently. Also, if you add the numbers in the year I was born: 17.

I stumbled on this today as I was searching for reasons why the number 17 follows me. It appears in almost every movie I watch. I could not find out why hollywood uses it. I wonder if it brings luck and success. My husband and I assumes its our lucky number. We married on 12/17 our best friend's birthday is 12/17. 17 was my husbands badge number, it is my employee id number. If we buy a raffle ticket it's 17. If I look at the clock its either 12:17 or ??:17 almost everyday. This number hasn't just come up once or twice its been hundreds of times over the last 15 years we've been married. My kids are now even looking for the number everywhere they go. So far it has only brought blessings and not curses. Good Luck to all of you fellow 17 friends.

ok well i wasnt born on the 17th or nothing like that! It jsut follows me! Like for example, I had to get surgury and my surgery room number was 17 and the doctor asked me to come back for a check up on the 17th and then everytime i look at the clock it usually says 17 and im leaving over seas on June 17th and i didnt plane it my family did and none of them know about the number 17 followin me and on top of that im coming back on august 17th! and also i was born on friday the 13th and on mi 17th birthday its going to be on friday the 13th...i need to know why its following me! there are way more incodents but there to long to tell please help!

things lik tht always happen to me on the 17th and i was born on the 17th and if u add all the letters of my first, middle and last names it equals 17. Also, usually wen i play sports and my coach is throwing jerseys at random i almost always get 17 even if its a new coach.

Read Linda Goodman's Star signs. There's an explanation there on why people born on the 17, 13, 4. 8, and 22 will have those numbers around them A LOT. They're supposedly karmic numbers and when you're born on one of those numbers, things that happen to you are fated. Anyway she gives a lengthier explanation

My sister was killed recently, and my daughter, Sister's very good friend and myself went on a road trip to the town where her headstone had just arrived and see it for the first time. While traveling every meal the three of us had together, breakfast, lunch, or dinner came to $17, this happened four times in a row. Then when leaving the place we stayed we looked at the door and the address was 17. I came to work the next day and a co-worker was joking and said the number 17 not knowing our experinces. It was very strange and wonder if it was a sign or something?

My random number for a corporate run was 666...loved the pictures. My motorbike race number is 17. I am italian...I bought my helmet on the 17/7 by chance. 17 represents a number of events, deaths and misfortunes but seen another way it is often the number of the last death, day an ongoing conflict or war ended and so on...I think having analysed it, it represents a non divisible number and the sum of 10, a number of worldy perfection and the cristian number 7...the holy number for divine perfection. i first started seeing 17 when i randomly picked it for soccer, ever since then i see it in many videos i watch and different signs. watching sporting events i usually see 17 in highlight videos followed by that team messing up. i was watching a tv show and the old train they showed running was 17, i know it haunts me but i don't see exactly what it means yet.

I too feel that way. For example, when ever my boyfriend and I are fighting, I'll get off the phone with him around 11:16, or 11:18. Point is, They are always Numbers around 17. Like the other night, we were fighting, and we hung up, then when he called back, it was 12:17. and I knew before he even said a word, what was going to happen. We made up. Also as stated above, Seventeen restores the harmony after the fights of the existence. It is the image of the initiate who has succeeded his interior marriage.



Now here's my experience with the number...
Born- September(9) on the 17th.
Time- 5:12 a.m.
Full Name- contains 17 letters.
Boyfriend- his birthday also adds up to 17, and we met on July 10th. July is the 7th month. 7+10=17. my boyfriend's Name is Austin. the Origin of Austin is Augustine. St. Augustine said "In the number seventeen as in its multiples we find an admirable sacrament".
Sports Number- always been 17.

I was in a play once, and the director was handing out scripts randomly, and just by chance i got the 17th book. ( they were all numbered)

School- class number has been 17, 7 times.
Clocks- almost every time i look at a clock, this time is _:17. or i can add the time up to 17.

When I was in 3rd grade, I got the role call number of 15. 6 months later i recieved the role call number of 18. I wanted to hold a number between the two, meaning i had obtain ends to an interval of a number line. So i chose 17. now, the number 17 has stalked me since 2007, when i first started dating on august 17th. today there are a total of 17 scratches on both legs and 17 scars on my body. Is there some connection?

I've been reading about the french philosopher Renee Descartes who found the value of math in accordance to life in general. Here's what I know about the number 17. It is symbolic of financial ups and downs. Lots of money followed by lack of it, sometimes a painful lack of it.It is also an idealist's number. In my opinion, it is mostly lucky, not unlucky. For that matter I've never noticed bad luck with the number 13 either. You gamblers out there, I'm sure would disagree strongly, and so would people living in Italy where 17 is ominous. Others of you may be thinking that the number adds to eight ( 1+7 ), and so must have eight significance, but I say, eight's eight, and seventeen's seventeen.

Two Shakespeare scholars, Alastair Fowler and Thomas Roche, have argued that Shakespeare's 154 sonnets were arranged in groupings 17+16+15+ ... +3+2+1 = 153 (with one extra). They point out that the first 17 sonnets in the collection are encouraging a young man to have children, and there is a striking change of topics after that. They point out also that some of the sonnets mention the Pythagorean notion of "pyramidal" numbers: eg sonnet 123 (note that "123" itself suggests a pyramidal number). But this might be mere coincidence.
