Symbolism

According to R. Allendy, "this number shows the ratios of the individual, 1, with the cosmic organization, 30, and these ratios consist of the natural law - 3 + 1 = 4". It is also the number joining together the ordered universe and its individualized part: "it is the individuality conferred to a part of the cosmic organization".

Bible

Josiah reigned 31 years in Jerusalem. (2 K 22,1)
The 31 kings overcome at the west of the Jordan by Joshua and the Israelites. (Jos 12,24)

General

Pradjapati created the universe by articulating the odd numbers from 1 to 31, according to the Vajasaneya Samhita - white Yajur.
The longest reign of papacy recorded in the history of the Catholic Church is 31 years and 7 month, by the Pope Pie IX (the 253th Pope) from the June 16, 1846 to February 7, 1878. He was elected at 54 years old and he died at 87 years old.

My daughter was born at 3:10 am, I was 30 weeks 1 day pregnant, she weighed 3lbs 1 oz, I was 31 years old. She died 17 months and 3 days later at 3:33 p.m.
I do not think 31 or any combination of those numbers is positive.

I have a number 31 in the shape of a triangle on my side that turned up when i was 16 so for me this is a bit freaky but intresting

God show me this number in a dream and after that He pulled me out of my body and said I must trust Him. I was just then floating in the air.

What does this have to do with the symbolic meaning of 31? I think what the page is talking about is not subjective meanings, but more inter-subjective meanings, i.e. those held by groups of people (rather than isolated individuals).

The Order of the Golden Fleece

31 is possibly a number associated with the Order of the Golden Fleece according to William F. Prizer in his paper "The Order of the Golden Fleece and Music," read in 1985 at the American Musicological Society's annual convention. This group was founded by Burgundian Duke Philip the Good in 1430. The number has some structural significance in the music of Antoine Busnoys, most notably his Missa L'homme arme.
