Ephesians Chapter 5

by Simba - 1/05/14 1:32 PM
When I decided to serve GOD (never did before), I chose the Spiritual Way of worship over being a Muslim; which were my only two alternatives. No other denomination appealed to me. However, my mother and siblings strongly and aggressively disagreed with my choice. This made me very uncomfortable, to the point where I cried many times. I then made a decision to seek GOD for direction and in my prayer to him, these were my words."Father I desire to serve you at this time of my life. If this is not the way you want me to serve, then give the directions -lead me to where you want me to be. I want you to be specific. Don't just tell me to come out from where I am, but give me clear directions to follow. GOD I will promise you one thing and that is that I will not move until I hear from because I do not want to leave and then have to return". This prayer was repeated many times over a nine month period until one day I woke at noon after a dream with this instructions: "READ EPHESIANS 5; READ EPHESIANS 5; NOT 6, 5". What are your thoughts on this one???

Let that passage soak in! Read it over and over. Research different interpretations written about Ephesian 5. Watch sermons on Ephesian 5.

This guy is controversial right now (and has been) but he speaks the truth. He runs a ministry that is a 24 hour / 7 days a week prayer room

love and blessings

I would say read the passage God is saying and let it soak in. Pray that God helps you understand all He is trying to say through it. I think because you are new in the faith it actually would be better to just stay you and God right now rather than looking to various preachers for teaching. When I began to follow God, my Muslim Father rejected me and it was VERY VERY HARD to keep going after Jesus. I cried many nights and the pain is still there but I pray for my Dad every day. I know someday Jesus will help him understand and we'll be reconciled. But when I first accepted Jesus I couldn't go to church because my dad became abusive if I tried to go to church. But I had my Bible. And by reading it on my own I got God's truths put right into me without any Man adding to it. Having a pastor is a wonderful thing, don't get me wrong. I'm part of a wonderful church family now. But I know that my ROOTS of having just God to teach me made me strong in my faith. There will be people God leads you to learn from but He'll let you know who they are :)

P.S. - Also be sure to read the whole Bible. There may be passages God wants you to soak in for a time but the entire Bible is His word and He wants you to know all of it. I think perhaps He wants to make sure you are reading a whole book so you don't take things out of context. Maybe that's why He specified not to read a certain verse at the moment. He wants you to know the whole context for understanding.

2 Timothy 3:16- 17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

You said that you chose the spiritual way of worship over being a muslim. You asked God to show you which way to go. Ephesians five talks about Living in the Light. Living by the Spirits power. and even Spirit Guided Relationships as well as the importance of Wives and Husbands and how to truly love one another. Read the subtitles offered at the beginning of the chapter as well as in between versus. They offer insight into what the chapter or verse is about. Different translations are also helpful, pray for guidance however as all translations are not God inspired.
