Properties of the number 76
Symbolism
Represent the termination of the individual Karma, 6, by the completion of its cycle of evolution, 70, passing from the death of the matter - or of oneself - to the birth to the spiritual, that is to say the passage on a higher level of existence - 7 + 6 = 13.
General
According to the Deutsch rabbi, in his book titled "Manual of the Israelite religious instruction", published by the Sefer foundation in Paris in 1961, the Hebrew people divided the day in 24 hours, and there were 1080 "rega" in one hour and 76 "heleq" in a "rega". A "heleq" equals therefore 0.0437398933 second, that is to say less than 44 milliseconds. The fact to divide the hour in 1080 is admitted rather well since this number is equal to 3 x 360, this last one being a usual number for the Babylonian astronomers and for other ancient peoples. But the researchers don't explain the introduction of a divider as 76 since the Hebrews never employed it. The Babylonians however knew a cycle of 27759 days, representing 76 solar years or 940 lunar months. Perhaps the Hebrews discovered this number when they were taken in captivity to Babylon. On the other hand, a "heleq" would represent the time that it would be necessary for the light to cover 13 millions of meters, the number 13 being a sacred number for several ancient peoples.
The 76 resembles to the symbol used for the representation of the zodiac sign of the Capricorn.
Gematria
The numerical value of the Hebrew word GhBD meaning slave or servant, NIHH meaning rest or peace, and HBIVN meaning hiding-place or secret place with "nun" final equal to 50, gives each one 76.
Occurrence
In the Bible, 76 numbers are multiple of twelve.
