I don't want to sound like a know it all because I don't. It's good to see peoples points of view whether researched or not. I can see there is great enthusiasm for biblical matters on many Christian websites/forums, and that is very healthy. Whilst there may be a connection between the number 666 and gold, and the economy and the wicked people who run the invisible government of finance which is basically blood-money and the overturning of the moneychangers as a pre-curser judgement pointing to the final judgement etc-we must keep to strict interpretations. Therefore I would like to refere to what the bible says about 666 Rev 13v18 (AV) "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (666). It is the number of a man.It doesn't say the number of his name just the number of the man, and it's also the number of the beast. 6 is the number of man as man was created on the 6th day. Everything that man creates in his Godless mind will bear the number 6 whether its gold, war machines, or anything and Jesus will destry it at the appointed time.

The verse right before that refers to the "number of his name" as does Rev 15:2.
Thankyou for that as I hadn't noticed .I'M just getting into Revelation, and spend so much time trying to understand what Jesus is saying I dont always see the detail. I know I will never know it all. Have studied other bible topics but I get very confused when it comes to Rev e.g. Rev 12v3 "great red dragon" & v9 "great dragon" & 13v "and a beast rise up out of the sea" + a second beast. All of these refere to the beast but with slightly different descriptins except for the fact that each reference hsa 7 heads & 10 horns. I'm trying to keep an open mind about whether the beast is the EU or Islam or Israel. The bible descibes Jerusalem as a harlot Isa 1v21 "How is the faithful city become an harlot". I suppose the nation of Israel have become a precedant for unbelief, and yet God continues to prove His existence through them. Also in Dan 8 it talks about the latter time or the end of the age? v23 "a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentances shall stand up. Down to v24 "shall destroy the holy people" v25 "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper". Not too sure but I read somewhere that "craft" implies deceipt. "and by peace shall destroy many". Just makes me think about the man of sin in 2Thes 2v8-11. Israel is being persuaded to enter into a peace treaty with the Arabs. Is Israel being symbolised by the woman like Eve who was deceived by the serpent in Gen3 which leads to Israels downfall. Ps 83 talks about Israels enemies taking crafty counsel against them and there are 10 Arab kingdoms mentioned. Jesus told us not only to look at the fig tree which Ibelieve is a reference to Israel but all the trees which could be the oaks of Bashan and Cedars of lebanon etc and therefore an Arab revival. Revelation seems at a glance to be a concentation of symbols pulled from other parts of the bible and placed into a futuere context. Don't know if I'm trying to grasp to much to soon.
Sounds like you're on the right track. There are many interpretations of these symbols by many different people throughout history. Some are harder than others to interpret clearly so you must pray for guidance and correct interpretation. As you've alluded to, the Bible is it's own interpreter when it comes to symbolism. My experience is that it's very easy to mix up symbols and make connections that aren't really there or later realize that connections are more ambiguous than previously thought.
It's important to note that there are two distinct beasts in Revelation. One from the earth and one from the sea. Waters are interpreted as people, tongues and nations in Rev 17:5 so that may be the same symbolism as the sea. Daniel tells us clearly that a beast is a king and his kingdom. The heads tend to be interpreted as kingdoms over time (was, and is not, yet is) and the horns as kings. The little horn of Daniel is commonly associated with the Antichrist.
The beast from the earth is called the false prophet. The false prophet has horns of a lamb which might associate him with Christianity, or peace, or a joint rulership, or youth (when compared to the Ram of Daniel). He causes all (by persuasion or coercion) to worship the beast of the sea, build an image to it, and receive it's mark. It's not clear if the mark, number, and name are all one and the same or if they're parts to a whole etc. It's also not clear what the image is, especially since it can speak and cause people to be killed.
The harlot is certainly a religious body closely connected to the beast of the sea (seven heads, ten horns, same as the red dragon who is identified as Satan). She is traditionally interpreted to be the Roman Catholic Church (sits on 7 hills like Rome, blood of the saints, fornication with kings, etc.) but may also be a future entity.
The woman in Rev 12 is likely Israel since she gives birth to the Messiah. See Jeremiah 24 for the fig tree.
Thanks again. I have found your comments really helpful. Need to take nore care when reading my bible and learn to be patient. Will pray for more guidance to help me listen to the Word rather than rush to conclusions. A work mate once told me not to be afraid of making mistakes beacuase if you havent ever made a mistake you havent made anything! Need to learn from them thats all.
Do not forget about King Solomon having more wisdom then anyone had ever had or would ever again have and god gave him this wisdom so HERE IS WISDOM>>>WHERE???? KING solomon
